Poe Joseph

Fifth of Seven

Poe Joseph is Tim Champeaux.

His friends call him Poe. His family calls him Poe. It's been his nickname since he was a kid, and it just stuck. And the name Joseph is a nod to his Pop, who was always a big supporter of Poe and his music. Pop knew the importance of "just showing up," and he taught Poe and his 6 brothers and sisters to always do the same. Hence, Poe Joseph..

Plus "Champeaux" is just too hard to spell....

Born in Buffalo NY, raised in Cleveland OH, Poe was the Fifth of Seven kids, growing up in a house with one dog, nine people and one bathroom. His Mom and Pop were from NYC originally, and the family goal was to always make it back to the Big Apple.

Poe left the snowy confines of the North Coast of Ohio for the loose limbed freedom of New Orleans. After a number of not so subtle years in the Big Easy hustling parades, the Quarter, Magazine Street and countless Uptown bars and caves, it was time to get back to his real roots, and Poe landed on a couch in Carroll Gardens Brooklyn NY 11231.

After meeting a core group of great friends and musicians in Brooklyn, Poe was on the road. Tours of Europe, Japan, the USA and everywhere in between followed, with bands like The Local NYC, The Second Step, The Toasters, The Brand New Heavies and many others.

Poe shared the stage with legends like Jimmy Cliff, P-Funk, Dr. John, Maceo Parker, and The Meters to name a few. 250+ nights on the road was not uncommon, and every minute of it a bonanza.

After getting off the road and a quick detour to Los Angeles, Poe landed back in NYC and started writing and recording with long time friend, Grammy Nominee and New Orleans runnin' partner Jon Cowherd.

Some really amazing gigs, experiences and placements followed. Notably the song "Addict Me" which was featured on a prominent HBO Image Campaign. The song also drew worlwide acclaim, peaking at #2 on the Amazon Roots/Rock chart.

Other noteworthy placements included "Never a Stranger to Me" heard on the Series Finale' of Friday Night Lights on NBC, "Little Man" featured on the CW, Delta Airlines and Jostens International.

"Fifth of Seven" is Poe Joseph's first solo album. It was recorded at the legendary Cygnus Sound Studio in Antioch TN, and Mastered at Sterling Sound by Adam Grover.  Featuring collaborations with Jeremy Adelman, Jackson Champeau, Grammy Nominee Jon Cowherd,  Academy Award Winner John DeNicola, New Orleans legend John "Papa" Gros, Danny Lapidus, Jimmy Messer, Caleb Sherman and Monique Staffile. Album Art by Jeremy Fetzer.

ps- If you think Poe's voice sounds familiar, you're right! In addition to music, he is also an award winning Voice Over Artist. You've heard him featured on 7 Super Bowl commercials, National Ad campaigns for Best Buy, Pizza Hut and Cadillac, plus countless network promos for HBO, ESPN, NBC, ABC, TBS, In Demand Pay per View, HGTV and many more.  He is also the signature voice for CNN politics.
